Humanities Program Faculty Research Grant Due 1 October 2024
Description
The Humanities Program Faculty Research Grant provides funding for any aspect of Humanities Faculty research or creative work.
Two awards will be given each academic year, with an application deadline of 1 October. Each award is for $1000, with $750 to be paid by the HUM Program, and $250 to be paid by the Heller Center for Arts & Humanities. The award may be used for any aspect of faculty research: travel, conference attendance, equipment, costs associated with publishing, etc. The proposed research activity must take place within one calendar year of the application date. Awardees must submit a short report of the funded research activity within 90 days of its conclusion.
Eligibility
To be eligible, a faculty member must have taught a HUM 3990 course within the past two calendar years of the application date. For example, for the October 2023 application, the faculty member must have taught a course in Fall 2021 semester or more recently.
One award is open to any qualifying Humanities faculty member. The other award is open only to faculty who do not have a full-time contract (tenure-track or IRC), that is, Lecturers and part-time Instructors.
Evaluation
The applications will be evaluated by the Humanities Program Director, the Director of the Heller Center for Arts & Humanities, and the Chairs of the five Humanities Departments (English, History, Languages and Cultures, Philosophy, Visual and Performing Arts) These seven individuals are not eligible for this award.
